Savannah Marshall is a novice vampire hunter sent to stop the vampire terrorizing the city. Instead she meets up with and stakes hunky Donatello Demarcus Ravill, who is with the VCI (Vampire Central Intelligence) and after the same vampire. They must first learn to trust each other, then to work together, if they are going to stop this old vampire who is stronger than anyone remembers. In learning to trust each other, they learn that species doesn't always dictate who can fall in love. Now they need to survive the fight with Rudolpho, the old vampire bent on world domination, and the condemnation of their people for their love to last. Can they do it?
In this witty and fun filled romp, J Morgan presents a novice vampire slayer who is thrown into the field without a senior slayer to back her up. There is a killer out there, Rudolpho, and she needs to get him. Instead of finding him, Savannah Marshall finds Donatello Demarcus Ravill, a VCI agent - Vampire Central Intelligence - he is after the same killer, and to keep our blonde slayer alive, he keeps her with him because everything she has learned on television, in books and in class doesn't work. A stake through the heart just hurts really badly, it doesn't cause a vampire to turn to dust and die. They are both fighting their attraction as they are learning to trust each other and to fight together, which to leads to falling in love. They must convince the two councils to an alliance to fight Rudolpho, and then they must survive the fight themselves as they are thrown into the ring with the demented master vampire. A fun rollicking good read full sarcasm and pop culture put-down references. If you like a first person narrative and lots of jokes in your romances, this is a great read. I give Love At First Stake a solid 4 wings and wish her much success with this series.
