A hilarious romp through the life of a rodeo bullfighter with a secret and a pretty lady actuary. I absolutely loved Down Home Ever Lovin’ Mules Blues by Jacquie Rogers. She draws you into the story with an unusual twist: each chapter is set up by Socrates, the cogitating mule. Brody Alexander and Rita Markum have wonderful chemistry, at times sensual and at times shown with humorous banter. The details in what it takes to be a rodeo bullfighter were authentic and well researched. I found myself reading Down Home Ever Lovin’ Mules Blues for the pleasure of it, and had to remember that I was reviewing. I look forward to reading more books by Jacquie Rogers, who has a refreshing style. Congratulations, Ms. Rogers, for writing an entertaining story full of joy, laughter, and, of course, a sexy hero and a feisty heroine. Not to mention an hilarious cast of animals led by Socrates, the cogitatin’ mule. One little negative—Unfortunately I found several editing mistakes; a repeated paragraph on one page, and missed words throughout the book. I had to knock off points for that, but overall this is a thoroughly enjoyable book.
