Gould pens a
poignant and heartfelt tale of love with November Rain. A
contemporary romance with a hint of the paranormal, November Rain is an
intense story that spans over continents and oceans.
The story opens with Jessica Kauffman discovering she’s pregnant. After years of trying with her husband, Jessica is delighted by the news. Her husband, Tyler, is an Air Force pilot, and is currently serving in Afghanistan. She keeps in touch with him through emails – and dreams.
After telling
Tyler the good news, she learns in a dream that his plane was shot down.
The next day, the Air Force comes to her house to tell her of the
accident. Jessica speaks to Tyler in her dreams, keeping their
love alive, but will that be enough to sustain her hope through the rescue
effort? Only time will tell.
Gould’s writing engages the reader right away, drawing them into the story. She has an easy writing style that makes the story flow well.
Her characters are interesting. Tyler is a noble, stand-up guy, and his actions are heroic in the face of danger. Jessica runs through a gambit of emotions, which one would expect her to after discovering her husband has been shot down behind enemy lines. What makes the story unique are Jessica’s dreams involving Tyler. If anything, I might have mentioned she had a high propensity for psychic abilities which would have explained her dreams.
The story has a
good blend of dialogue and narration. The dialogue is realistic
and Gould has done a good job capturing that sense of community that military
members have for each other.
The story is “sophisticated” for CRR with a graphic love scene that is tastefully done. Overall, November Rain is a story about the power of love.
